INSTRUCTION & PRACTICE
With an increase in the number of programs for curlers with 5 or fewer years' experience, the GCC's growing reputation for providing quality ice and the expansion of our instruction staff to include a number of high-performance curlers, demand for instruction and practice at the Garrison is higher than ever. Although we're already a very busy club, we have been able to make ice time available around our league schedules for curlers who want to improve their games. The same empty sheets can be used for instruction and/or practice - or even corporate/group rentals. Sometimes a sheet is taken out of play for maintenance.
As noted below, practice requests by members can be made a maximum of 7 days in advance starting at 800a. There is no restriction how far in advance a lesson can be booked (because it can be complicated to line-up the instructor).
Regrettably, our current scheduling software doesn't allow for real-time display or booking of practice and instruction slots. While we try to keep the schedules updated, there are times when we might show availability and none exists.
Instruction

LEARN-TO-CURL
Learn-to-Curl is our two-hour group boot camp for people with no curling experience. It's designed to teach fundamentals and is well suited to people considering our Greenhorn (novice) League.

RULES REFRESHERS
While most recreational curlers broadly follow the Rules of Curling in the (hopefully) low-pressure environment of club curling, there are always a few rules that are perhaps more obscure than others. Click on the topics below to get an overview of some rules in plain-speak.
Practice
All practice sessions are 45-minutes. Slots can be booked starting at 800a up to 7 days in advance by members (so book this Friday for next Friday, etc.) and 3 days in advance by non-members. All practice ice requests should be emailed to practice@garrisoncurling.com. They will be time-stamped and we'll respond in order of receipt. So as to maintain the equity of the bookng system, any emails received prior to the 800a advance time will be disregared, even if it's 759a - so please ensure that you don't press the "send" button before 800a. For maximum efficiency, consider giving us a couple of options in case your first choice isn't available. NBote that the schedule is sytatic and is not up[dated when slots are reserved. MEMBERS
Membership has its privileges!
- Members can book up to 7 days in advance and there is no fee for practice ice.
- Members may also bring up to 3 guests. If the guests are family members, there is no charge. Other guests pay a fee of $15 per curler.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
If you're not playing in a GCC league but still want to practice (or spare) during the season, you can purchase an Associate Membership for $175. After January 1, that's reduced to $87.50
- Associate Members can book up to 7 days in advance and there is no fee for practice ice.
- Associate members may bring up to 3 guests, for a fee of $25 per curler.
NON-MEMBERS & TOURING PROFESSIONAL TEAMS
Those individuals who are neither Members nor Associate Members:
- May book up to 3 days in advance
- Pay a fee of $30 per curler (maximum 4 curlers per sheet).
