The recreational program is a strong foundational course for those who want to learn and build their abilities. Participants will be trained on how to achieve all the basic skills in order to curl properly and safely. They will do fun drills individually and in teams to learn and enhance their delivery and understanding of the game.
The competitive program is best suited for those who have two or more years of curling experience. More strategy and game play is incorporated at this level, as well as advanced drills and exercises. Some participants will even get the opportunity to learn through guiding those in the recreational program. Curlers in this program are expected to be able to use big rocks and have a strong foundational slide.
Both the recreational and competitive leagues are coordinated by a certified Southern Alberta Curling Association Club Coach and in training Competitive Coach. It is also supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic rotating group of volunteers. Curlers will be assessed throughout the season on their skills and capabilities. To ensure a safe and fun environment, it is up to the discretion of the coordinator as to which program participants are best suited for. Learn more about junior curling volunteer opportunities here.
We can also arrange personalized coaching for those looking to train and reach a higher level. Speak to us about individual or group advanced coaching opportunities.
